Having undertaken the Leeds Station Integrated Masterplan in 2017, which covered a huge portion of the City's south bank. We were appointed to follow up this pioneering work with a more detailed study of the existing Station surrounds
The application was led by our Landscape and urban design team and included a multi-disciplinary design team from Atkins, appointed by Balfour Beatty via Leeds City Council to progress the reconfiguration of Leeds Station frontage. The site also included the associated spaces of Neville street and dark Neville street, otherwise known as the dark arches.
We worked closely with Balfour Beatty, our contractor partner, and the client, LCC on this £32m project, which will thoroughly transform and open up the station's forecourt spaces, improving access for pedestrians and cyclists, creating a generous new entrance and arrival space which will include a new cycle hub and café, dedicated lifts, generous planting, seating and grand steps which will welcome over 31 million annual visitors who frequent the site.
